ESA Pressures CBS News

A little more detail has surfaced on the whole ESA-president-is-a-Nazi thing. Turns out CBS News received a little pressure from the ESA in a phone call that may or may not have included the choice word: defamatory. More »

South Park Going Mobile

THQ has bought the rights to bring South Park to the cell phone. The company is working on five games, wallpapers, ring tones, screen savers and even short clips. The first game will be South Park Sports Day, due out next month. Instead of going with the tried and true method of slapping new graphics on a crappy old game, Sports Day will be uniquely offensive. The second game in the works is Save Kenny, where you'll have to dodge death. Screw the games, I can't wait for the ring tones: I'm not fat, I just haven't grown into my body yet you skinny bitch. Wet T-Shirt: The Advergame

I'm not sure whether to classify this as an advergame or just straight-up softcore porn. Shirt City has a fun little flash game on their site called Wet Shirt. The object of the game is to shoot images of hot T-shirt clad women with a water gun. Think of it as Hogan's Alley but with more hot women and a water gun. The levels are in wet t-shirt appropriate environs, like an office, a night club and someone's swank high rise loft. Each time you beat a level you're rewarded with a brief video of a doused tart prancing around in a white, wet T-shirt. Beat the game and you get a coupon, sadly it's only for the T-shirt. More »

NARC Then and Now This doesn't really even need a set up. Fail Math, posted then and now pictures of Midway's NARC. God love commercialism.

Four Innovative Titles Coming to DS

Band Brothers, a Japanese DS launch game, isn't the only innovation Japanese gamers will be getting their hands on. In an interview with Hobo Nichi, Satoru Iwata, talked about four new titles, including Nintendogs, that will push the gaming envelope. The others include games that will help exercise your brain, can be used as an electronic dictionary and will require touching light and sound. It sure would be nice to get one of these in the U.S. More »

Sneaky Games You Can Play at Work

Game designers are coming out with some clever ways to allow you to screw off at work. Boss screens have been around forever, and recently some games have come with an option to quickly shrink the window without stopping the game. The latest innovation in time-waster technology are games that actually play in your Windows' task bar. CCR has designed a card game that actually displays cards as task bar and shortcut icons at the bottom of your screen so you can play without having to worry about being caught. All we need now is a way to display Kotaku posts as work related emails. More »

Xbox 360 Unveiled in March?

Not bothering to quote anyone or even think up some lame sourcing, Spong is guesstimating that the Xbox 360 will be unveiled in March instead of May. Spong decided the early launch was happening after being told by two sources that an Xbox 2 conference slated for March. But what really sealed the deal for Spong is that Msoft, when contacted about the rumor, said no comment instead of saying they don't comment on rumors. Well then it's gotta be true. More »

Pikmin Toys Hit Japanese Boxed Gum

Thank God I don't live in Japan or my entire shoebox house would be filled to the brim with crappy little toys I don't need. Starting March 28, Agatsuma Entertainment will be selling little boxes of gum with two collectible figures from Pikmin. The scary thing is that I have this burning need to collect like 50 of those tiny flower-headed creatures and have them take on a Playdoh Katamari Damacy in a stop-action film extravaganza. More »

A Detroit television station has an uplifting story of someone stealing a dead teen's Playstation 2. So, a funny thing happened on the way to the mail server. I'm not quite sure how, but the last week's worth of emails have decided to disappear from my Outlook. Instead of crying of spilled tips, I'll just suck it up and get on with life. One thing, I have the names of the five winners of the Pop Questions last week, but not their mailing addresses. If you were a winner, and we both know who you are, please resend me your vitals so I can mail out this crap I mean these wonderful prizes.

Anti-VG Violence Bill Spurs Threats of Violence

In an ironic fit of bullshit, a San Francisco Assemblyman is claiming that he is receiving death threats because of his bill to restrict the sale of violent video games. Leland Yee claims he received a total of three threats in the last week. The first two came just before a conference to propose tougher restrictions on violent video games: More »

CBS News Balks, Cuts Nazi-ESA Story

The sharper eyed among you might notice that the CBS News story I pointed to early today doesn t have the Goebbels quote I referenced (and stuck in my headline.) That s because the whole friggin question and answer was apparently, and unceremoniously, chopped from the column. I can only guess that someone higher up than the writer freaked out when they saw the reference. Here s to a free press. Here for your amusement, and to kick mud in the face of The Man, is the chopped Q and chopped A that I had cached: More »
