Nintendo
In Brief
The sad thing about April Fool's Day is that sometimes the jokes are better than reality. That's why we're hoping that the announcement of a series of Bob Ross games coming to the PC, the Nintendo Revolution, and best of all the Nintendo DS, isn't just a slightly early gag. Seriously. A well-constructed Bob Ross game for the DS could end up blowing Nintendogs and Animal Crossing out of the water. If this ends up being some sort of cruel jest, we're going to have to storm the gates at Bob Ross Inc. demanding that they make good on their tease. Or, you know, just pout.

Vista Versa
Microsoft is entering the world of quantum computing with Windows Vista. In a nod to Schrödinger's cat, certain PCs will be created in a state of being Vista Capable and not Vista Capable at the same time! Microsoft hasn't released the actual hardware specs for Vista, but they're nonetheless certifying certain PCs as "Vista Capable," a certification program that may or may not actually reflect the minimum requirements for Vista. Microsoft Watch has the details. More »

Violent Video Game With Violence Coming to Revolution
Revolution Advanced has a disturbingly bloodthirsty report on an upcoming game, code-named "Katana" for the Revolution. The article uses the word "violent" or "violence" four times, and "swordplay" three times, so we're led to understand that it's going to involve some sort of violent swordplay. Probably not a Nerf license, then. More »GTA Chicago Official and Exclusive to PS3

Library
Want to Learn More about Mario Kart? Visit Your Library!
King County, Washington is taking the startling step of putting video games in libraries. Not to check out — we all know they'd never come back — but to actually play in the library on GameCubes, Nintendo DSes, Xboxes, and Xbox 360s. Apparently the idea is that once lured in by promises of E- to T-rated gaming pleasures, the kids might suddenly realize that they're surrounded by books and decide to read one. Also, one librarian is quoted as saying "To succeed in a game, players need to read manuals and understand the rules." Read manuals? Like open them up? Then what are the in-game tutorials for? More »100 Characters In Lego Star Wars II
LucasArts sends word that Lego Star Wars II will include both the original 50 characters from the first game, plus more than 50 new charactrers. The sequel will allow you to import all of your unlocked characters from the first game with a save file. More »Video of US Brain Age
Despite the fact that according to Brain Age's own creator, playing video games will turn you into a homicidal maniac, all available footage seems to indicate that the game will not, in fact, train you to chop innocent bystanders into small quivering chunks. Actually, it looks pretty fun. As evidence for the more psychologically mundane aspects of Brain Age, check out eToychest's Jason Dobson testing his brain... and his brain utterly and completely letting him down. Larf at his depiction of a kangaroo! Marvel as he answers "11" to the question "What is 7 + 5?" It's a lot of fun... not only for ridicule value, but to see how cool the game actually seems to be. We're a sucker for self-betterment. More »What Will You Be Playing This Weekend?
It's the weekend. For some, weekends involve getting drunk, or skydiving face-first into the bosoms of strippers, or jumping flaming monster trucks over the grand canyon. But we're gamers. For us, it means two blissful days of cathode irradiation — fighting monsters and demons in imaginary worlds while our pale blue skin shimmers and crackles. More »

What's the Best Gaming Convention?
With the Electronic Software Association cracking down and all on attendance at this year's E3, it looks like your chances of getting into the big show if you're not a "game journalist" or part of the industry is going to be slimmer then ever. More »Revolution Worldwide Launch After All?
We all sure hope the Revolution gets a world-wide launch, if only because we want to have to save Ashcraft's children the discomfort of a long hostage negotiation in exchange for enough Japanese Revolutions to satisfy the frankly quite criminal Kotaku staff. So we were a bit worried when Iwata began spouting off about not following Microsoft and Sony's lead when it comes to worldwide launches. Oh, sure, we knew that was technically the most sensible thing — as MS and Sony have amply proven, worldwide launches only guarantee that gamers in every continent are incapable of buying the system at release. But we're gamers first and kidnappers second, so first we griped, then put in an order for an extra large dog carrier, like you might use when flying with a pet. More »

Lore: We Need More Grav Guns
Lore Sj berg's gets his grump on in an article about what he does and doesn't want to see in his next-gen games. Rhythm games are right out (wha! Guitar Hero, hello!), but Lore wants way more attention spent on trying to make characters look like something you might talk to instead of fondle in a clothes store when no one is looking. He also wants way more grav guns (something I totally agree with) and more puzzle-adventure games. More »Office Massacre Game Canceled
