Games of the Week: Cue Crickets

Either the first week of May is a retail death sentence or no publisher wants their games to be lost amid the impending E3 hype. Regardless, this week is D-E-A-D-dead as far as new releases go. Here is this week's emaciated line-up. More »

Sega's Sketchy Hitler Tee

Huh. Not sure how I'd feel walking around with a big Adolf Hitler head on my chest, especially if I had to tell people the tee was an Advanced Dai Sen Ryaku promo item. I suppose the inclusion of Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill, and Mussolini gives it a bit more context, softening the potential neo-Nazi implication, but it's really the hardcore nerdery that puts it over the top. Metal Gear Solid 4: The Real Time Demo

Anyone in denial about the real-time nature of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer should watch this older, but recently YouTubed video demonstrating the attention to detail and graphical clarity of the MGS4 engine. In it, the narrator plays around with the demo on a PS3 dev kit, covering all the neat graphical tricks Kojima's team uses, including uber-high polygon counts, depth of field, and high dynamic range lighting. It also has pee jokes. Fascinating stuff.

Sega Rally Goes Revo, Not Wii

Sega announced the next entry in the long running Sega Rally series would be coming next year, under the name Sega Rally Revo. But sorry, no Revolution... err, Wii version. Don't let that "Revo" mislead you. The game is headed to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, courtesy of the newly formed Sega Driving Studio. More »

DONY AWK Next-gen

Is This Next Gen Tony Hawk?

Playsyde has posted a video they culled from Japanese super-site 2ch which may be (just may be) test-animation from a next-gen Tony Hawk title. It looks a little suspect to me, as the models and lighting aren't that hot, and the animation doesn't seem like that much of a jump from current generation THPS games. But this is Activision we're talking about here. ;) More »

The Nintendo Monopoly

Looks like the Nintendo monopoly is back: in board game form! I assume the game rules will be slightly modified to encourage abuse of third-parties by signing restrictive licensing agreements and boardroom tirades from the Hiroshi Yamauchi gamepiece. More »

Nintendo Gauging Wii Love?

An anonymous tipster sent in the above image allegedly from a Greenfield Online survey. Greenfield is responsible for gathering consumer and market feedback, and, in this case, looks to have been running the survey for Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates (who also have done polling and media research for Xbox, Nike, MTV and more). Sweet Limited MPH Nintendo DS

The Go Nintendo crew have tons of snaps from their trip to the Nintendo World Store, at which Reggie "Kick Ass, Take Names" Fils-Aime made a special appearance yesterday. The coolest photo (no offense guys, you're a handsome bunch) is of this limited edition Nintendo DS, all Metroid Prime Hunters-ed up. My inner Nintendo fanboy is really pissed at me for not going to New York yesterday and trying to win this thing. More »

Koei's E3 Line-Up Revealed

The house that Dynasty Warriors built released its preliminary list of what will be available (but not necessarily playable) on the E3 show floor. Few surprises here, as Koei announced both Fatal Inertia and Blade Storm for the PS3 many moons ago, and as the line-up is dominated by tried and true Samurai/Dynasty Warriors titles. More »

Hidden Guitar Hero Song

Like the Sgt. Pepper's album, Guitar Hero has a hidden track. The tune's name is Trippolette, and was perhaps cut because it sounds like prog-rock. The song was still left on the disc. To unearth this treasure, players need a cheat device like Codebreaker or Gameshark. Rock on! More »
