Moore: Gamers Don't Care About Backward Compatibility

In an interview with Kikizo, Peter Moore got a little chest-thumpy and started talking about how gamers don't really care about backwards compatibility. Then he says that Msoft "under promised and over delivered" on the Xbox 360's BC. Man, an Msoft Veep salary must really get you some high-grade crack. More »

How Sony's Failure to Connect Doomed the PSP

CNET's John Borland has written a fascinating piece that examines the cause behind the spectacular failure of Sony's Connect digital music project. The story doesn't really touch on the Playstation Portable directly, but it's not much of a stretch to say that the failure of Connect has had a significant impact on Sony's support of the PSP as a multimedia device. Playstation Pornable Plucking Hussies "Out of Thin Air"

Little Jeffy Harris just thought the bright pictures of naked ladies his new friend brought him were funny. He would spent long recesses giggling quietly and conversing in hushed tones to his pal, as they both laughed innocently at the people with no clothes. More »

WoW

The Leeroy Jenkins WoW Card

It looks like famously idiotic World of Warcraft player Leeroy Jenkins will be getting immortalized in the upcoming World of Warcraft card game being put together by Upper Deck. The card was drawn by Gabe of Penny-Arcade fame and inked by Joe Pekar of Gabe-fame. Personally, I think he needs a bit more froth in the facial hair (Jenkins not Gabe), but it still looks awesome. I wonder what the card does? Distract the enemy with bouts of hilarity over the meat-headed stupidity of a screw-the-odds charge in the face of the unknown? Immediatly clear the table of all of your own cards? More »

The Taiwanese Metal Gear Flick

Nothing to do with the Hollywood adaptation, this fan-made Taiwanese Metal Gear is still pretty cool (albeit a tad long). The voice-overs are from the Japanese version of the game, and the subtitles are in Chinese. The fist fight on the basketball court is quite charming. More »

Fortune Talks PS3 Pricing, Giggling Follows

An ironically funny article on the PS3's high price over at Fortune (geddit?) ponders whether consumers are actually willing to pony up the cash for the new console. With the total estimated bill of goods for each PlayStation 3 hovering above sticker price, Sony could lose $1 billion on just hardware this year. The pay-off, of course, comes in spades with Blu-Ray—the company's next generation DVD format. Fortune then dragged out some chestnuts from the Kutaragi quote book, including my favorite: The PlayStation 3 is a "machine with supercomputer calculation capabilities for home entertainment." Gotta love that Kutaragi's rapier wit. More »

The Movies

The Movies' Site Ready for Its Close-Up

VH1's new game site, Game Break, points out that Lionhead has freshened up their Movies site. The make-over is in preperation for The Movies upcoming expansion pack Stunts and Effects, which hits on June 6. The relaunch includes giving The Movies movie-makers the ability to market and promote their Sim-like films with posters. The site will also have new categories for films made with the expansion pack. Finally, people who buy the expansion pack will get their site disk space bumped up from 10 megs to 25 megs. So far the site is host to almost 90,000 movies, which, if played back-to-back, would take 196 days to watch. That and the ability to stomach an endless stream of cliche-ridden blockbuster knock-offs. More »

Stay tuned. More »
