Nintendo Unveils Launch, VC Titles

Nintendo just unveiled their official "launch window game" list for both the Nintendo Wii and Virtual Console. All said there's more than 60 titles in the line-up hitting stores between launch day and the end of the year. That's like a dozen games a week, though I'm told most of them will be out day and date of the console. Many third party titles are still being locked down, though most will launch by the end of November. Expect all the listed VC games to be available by the end of December. More »

Someone Set Us Up The Hamburgers!

Can someone explain to us what's going on here? It seems that VIA Technologies hired female gaming crew "girlz 0f destruction" to do some event called "Couples, Computers & Gaming" with them in SF on November 11 (as evidenced by their press release landing in my mailbox). But can someone explain to me why "girls 0f destruction" looks like a hamburgered up version of the Fragdolls? More »

Ridge Racer 7 Takes 5GB of Hard Drive Space

In order to "speed up gameplay", a euphemism for saying the PS3's Blu-ray drives are too slow to keep up with the amount of data streamed from the disc, Ridge Racer 7 is going to deposit 5 GB of junk onto your hard drive. This seems like quite a bit of space when you consider that "stickers, music and race events" are going to be available for download too. More »

Rumor: Something Fishy With 360's 1080p

According to a bunch of very angry people over on the AV Science form, and one Kotaku reader, the 1080p upgrade for the Xbox 360 doesn't appear to work on Sony's XBR2/XBR3 line of televisions. This is a big deal because the folks there claim it's considered to be one of the best 1080p televisions on the market. More »

The Playable Pac-Man Costume

There's always a lot of banter about the best this and the best that, but it's rare that something actually fits the description, especially in the realm of gaming oneupmanship. Well, it's going to be awhile before anyone topples rluzinski from his throne for best homemade game-themed Halloween costume. More »

Vice City Swag

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories streeted today and look what showed up at my front door. The swag pack for the game included a long-sleeve shirt, stickers, a pink lawn chair, the game and a... wait for it... retina burning white Member's Only jacket with a fancy pink Rockstar logo on the sleeve and the game's name on the back. And this wasn't a knock-off, it was actually made by Member's Only, it says so on the tag. More »

Viva Pinata

Viva Piñata Goes Gold

The best game on the Xbox 360 that prominently features Piñatas has gone gold. Despite our vote of no confidence, you'll soon be breeding piñatas—forcing them to mate in just the right combination to get the perfectly engineered master race of candy pooping pets [1]. Once you're done with that, you can pit them together in a battle to the death, seeing how long a sentient creature can last while his insides are being slowly drained out into the hands and mouths of disgusting little children [2]. In fact, we hear there's even a black market piñata trade where you can swap your pets like ancient Egyptian slaves [3]. More »
