Absolutely. Taking off my "developer" hat and putting on my "gamer" hat, I'm really glad that Sony decided to go high-end instead of going for mid-range this generation. Competition is fierce, and it's a great time to be a gamer. I can't wait to see what the Ico team comes up with so much more horsepower available!

To continue some of the discussion that we were having, and in light of my recent comments, I hope you don't mind if I clarify a point or two. Although I do think the 360 is capable of better visuals than the PS3, I don't believe it's a major difference on the consumer end of things. The quality of the development studio outweighs the performance differences between PS3 and 360 by a huge margin, so much so that the alleged 360 advantage is more likely to translate into faster development times than better-looking games.
So mainly, I'm looking at things from a developer perspective. All other things equal, given the choice between working on a 360 exclusive title and PS3 exclusive title I'd choose working on the 360 hands down. Whether that will translate to better-looking games for the 360 down the road does remain to be seen, but the emphasis of my message isn't that the 360 will outpace the PS3 so much as that the PS3 won't outpace the 360.
Thanks for the intelligent replies, you've been very open-minded and civil although you may disagree with my overall conclusions.

@Asper: I would not contend your claim that he's a phenomenal douchebag, actually. I am merely saying that pointing out his phenomenal douchebaggery is neither useful for starting a discussion, nor counterevidence to his point; ad hominems tell more about the accuser than the accused.

I would be quite happy to make the argument that he's a phenomenal douchebag, but that's hardly a meaningful dialogue. Cute opening statement, but add some meat around that bone, to use one of my grandfather's sayings.

@Asper: Thanks for your comment about my comments on the GTA video article. I was actually a bit surprised that it was possible to have a reasonably civilized discussion amidst tons of mindless, ranting "Glen Beck is a f'ing douchebag" comments :-)

Honestly appreciate your commentary on the "Perhaps the Stupidest Anti-GTA Vid You'll See Today" article. Had a magical little way of calming me down and letting me think about why the video is so frustrating to me as opposed to just typing nonsense while foaming at the mouth.

How about that 10.5.2!?! I think the safari update has made a real improvement to the speed of loading kotaku!
